Caregiver Programs

This program has two pilots designed to provide Home Child Care Providers and Home Support Workers for seniors or people with disabilities, with the opportunity to become permanent resident, once they have 2 years of eligible work experience in Canada.

 

Education : Applicants must have one year of Canadian post-secondary education in the field of work, Or; If you have foreign Post Secondary education, you must have a completed credential, and an Educational Credential Assessment (ECA) from a designated organization showing that your education is equal to a completed degree from a Canadian Post-Secondary Institution.

Work Experience : Have at least 24 months of qualifying Canadian work experience, Or, if they have never worked full-time as a caregiver in Canada. They can work 24 months in Canada prior to apply for permanent residency. Eligible candidates will be able to apply for a work permit, and to gain the two years mandatory work experience in order to apply for permanent residence in Canada.

Demonstrates ability to perform the work : as a Home Child-Care Provider or as a Home Support Worker.
If the applicant has provided proof of at least 24 months of eligible Canadian work experience in their initial application, they do not need to be assessed for their ability to perform the work.

Job Offer : If applicant has less than 24 months of Canadian Work Experience. A Job offer is required and they need to be assessed for their ability to perform the work.
If the applicant has provided proof of at least 24 months of eligible Canadian work experience in their initial application, a job offer is not required.

Language Requirements : Be able to demonstrate on an approved language test a minimum of Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) of 5 in all four abilities: listening, speaking, reading and writing, in either English or French.
